Much loved star of Grease, Susan Buckner, dies ages 72 in Miami
Movie icon Susan Buckner, who will be remembered for her role in Grease, has died aged 72.
Buckner played cheerleader Patty Simcox who wore signature glasses and tried to provide a moral compass for stars Olivia Newton (Sandy) and John Travolta (Danny).
A statement from her family announced she had passed away peacefully ‘surrounded by loved ones’ in Miami. No cause of death was revealed.

‘’Do the splits, give a yell! Show a little spirit for Old Rydell. Way to go, red and white. Go Rydell – Fight, fight, fight!’’
Buckner was only 25 during production and had previously spoken about the cast and the mischief they got up to filming the movie which went on to gross more than $1.5 billion world-wide.
‘’We were so bad. Almost everybody would come in two, three hours late. They had to bring us all in and give us a lecture.’’
Prior to her acting career Buckner was crowned Miss Washington in 1971 and in was also finalist in the Miss America pageant later that year.
