Foo Fighters announce 2025 Launceston concert as Dave Grohl brings rock giants back to Australia

American rock ‘n’ roll stars Foo Fighters are no strangers to Australia, with their visits totalling to 14 since their first trip Down Under in 1995.
Launceston has never made the list of places they have visited, but that’s all about to change.
Dave Grohl’s evergreen rock band will play Launceston’s UTAS Stadium on Saturday, January 24th of next year, supported by Full Flower Moon Band and Spooky Eyes.

The confirmation follows days of teasing from the band. Foo Fighters shared a video with the caption: “Take cover Tassie!!!” Frontier Touring teased “big news incoming” in a post featuring the band’s signature logo.
The now confirmed show will mark the first time Foo Fighters have visited Tasmania since 2015, when they played Hobart’s Derwent Entertainment Centre as part of the Sonic Highways world tour, Rolling Stone reported.
Foo Fighters recently released a new single, “Asking for a Friend”, the beginning of a new chapter for the band with new drummer Ilan Rubin.
Rubin, formerly of Nine Inch Nails, officially joined the band this year following the departure of Josh Freese. Freese had stepped into the drummer’s seat after the devastating loss of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022.
Foo Fighters have been a stadium-filling band for over a decade now, and Australian audiences love them more than just about anyone else does.
The band has sold over 1.8 million records in Australia, with nine of their albums going to number one on the album charts.
