Actor Jennifer Aniston has turned to hypnotherapy to overcome aerophobia (fear of flying) , in a bid to “remove all of those superstitions” of danger when she boards a plane.

“I have an extreme fear of flying,” she told Travel+Leisure magazine.

“But I have been doing some hypnosis lately, and one of the requirements is to remove all of those superstitions. I have not been doing the right hand, right foot - and now it’s shockingly good!

“Plugging into a good meditation can get you through.”

The actresses fear of flying partly comes from a terrifying incident in 2019 while taking a flight with her Friends co-star Courteney Cox and screenwriter Molly McNearney.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Aniston recalled the frightening experience.

“It was one of those moments, during taxi and takeoff, when we suddenly heard this explosion. It sounded like a car hitting a massive pothole… one big enough to straddle the Grand Canyon,” she said.

Roughly two hours into the flight, a flight attendant approached Aniston with unsettling news: air traffic control had alerted the pilot that debris from a landing gear tire had been found back on the runway at LAX.

Aniston assumed the debris was from her plane.

The aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing, leaving Aniston and her friends shaken, but grateful to be safely back on ground.

The TV and Hollywood star says she also struggles with the issue of “over-packing” and is trying to figure out how to travel light.

“I’ve been trying so hard to become an under-packer because I am notoriously an over-packer,” she told the magazine.

“You just don’t know where you’re going to be on a certain day, or what mood you’re going to be in.

“My girlfriends really appreciate me because they can usually borrow all of my things that they have forgotten - I’m providing a service!

“I put all my T-shirts in, then all my underwear, bras, socks, workout stuff, and they just stack on top of each other, which really helps you out.”
