Their show wasn’t nominated, and neither were they, but Heated Rivalry stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie owned the Golden Globes stage as they made their debut at the awards.

Basking in their newfound fame, the duo who were not afraid to strip off in front of the camera for their TV series, proved they know their audience and played to it when handing out the award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series.

Appearing overwhelmed to be front and centre in the celeb-packed auditorium, Storrie started: “Sorry, it’s a little nerve-racking being here at our very first Golden Globes.”

But Williams reassured him, advising him to use a well known public speaking trick, “Just take a deep breath and picture everyone in the audience… You know.”

“Oh! Yeah, I don’t know if that works, considering everyone has seen us… You know.”

“You think everyone in the audience has seen Heated Rivalry?” Williams asks as the audience claps and shouts.

“That’s a maybe,” Storrie says. “But their trainers have, and their mums have, their daughters have.”

“Hi mums.” “Hi daughters,” the pair joked.

Mixing sports and spicy romance, Heated Rivalry has become a social phenomenon since its release at the end of November, gaining an obsessive following, particularly among LGBTQI and female audiences, who make up at least two thirds of the viewership.

In the Canadian adaptation of Rachel Reid’s beloved Game Changer ice hockey-romance novels, Williams plays closeted Canadian hockey prodigy Shane Hollander and Storrie his Russian rival Ilya Rozanov as the pair navigate a secret decade-long affair.

With lots of yearning and steamy scenes that leave little to the imagination, the Jacob Tierney-created show has shot the duo to worldwide fame in just weeks.

Why wasn’t Heated Rivalry nominated for a Golden Globe?

The stars of one of the most talked about TV shows in recent times were asked to present the award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series, but their show was never going to win an award.

It was produced by Canadian streamer Crave and was solely financed outside the US, ruling it out of a Golden Globe nomination or for an Emmy nomination, despite its popularity.
