It was back in 2001 that Victoria Beckham revealed she had nicknamed her husband Goldenballs.

She wasn’t terribly specific why he had earned the name — but his latest modelling campaign perhaps offers us a clue, or two.

David Beckham showed he’s still in great shape at the age of 49 as he “I simply couldn’t refuse” posed in the latest Hugo Boss underwear line.

It’s not the first time the former England captain has stripped down to his smalls for an ad campaign.

But this one leaves very little indeed to the imagination.

In one particularly daring shot, Beckham is seen reclining with his legs apart. Fashion designer Ms Beckham, 50, shared the pictures on social media and wrote in the caption: “My boss”, along with a wink emoji.

The photos come after Beckham signed a multi-year deal to design his own collections for Boss.

He declared: “I once said that my bodywear modelling days had come to an end, but when Boss shared their ambition for the range . . . I simply couldn’t refuse.”

The Beckhams were being interviewed by Michael Parkinson in 2001 when she praised her husband over his football career, adding: “I call him Goldenballs now.”
