Hugh Jackman: Deborra-Lee Furness, ex-wife, had ‘suspicions’ about newfound ‘love’ with co-star Sutton Foster

Hugh Jackman’s rumoured newfound love was “no secret” to ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness, who had her “suspicions” about the actor working with Broadway star Sutton Foster.

Jackman, 56, is reportedly “in love” with Tony Award-winning actress Foster, 49, who he starred alongside in The Music Man in 2022.

The pair were first linked in December 2023, when In Touch magazine reported the Wolverine actor was “romancing” Foster, who is also known for starring in the TV show Younger.

The rumour mill was sent into overdrive after Foster filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years, screenwriter Ted Griffin, on Tuesday. Court records show the couple filed for divorce in the New York County Supreme Court on October 22, People magazine reports.

Furness, 68, reportedly had concerns about the duo working together on the Broadway production, a year before the end of their 27-year marriage.

“Deborra-Lee had her suspicions when Hugh started working with Sutton,” a source told DailyMail.com.

“Their relationship is not a secret to her.”

The source went on to say Deborra-Lee “wants to be left out of this narrative” and would not be commenting.

“She is not going to address this or speak against Hugh,” they told DailyMail.com.

“When they divorced, they agreed to keep everything that happened during their marriage private.”

Another source confirmed the new lovebirds were “getting closer to making it official”.

“They aren’t going to shove it down everyone’s throat,” they told DailyMail.com.

“They became close friends while working together and got to confide in each other over their individual troubles.

“Hugh still has tremendous respect for Deborra-Lee. They have kids and that is what is important to them both. They are repairing what they can, and will never talk ill about each other.”

Foster, 49, and Griffin, 53, share a seven-year-old daughter, who they adopted in 2016.

The divorce has only added fuel to rumours that the two Broadway stars have found love off-stage after their lauded run in The Music Man.

Foster played Jackman’s leading lady in the show and were photographed together at events throughout 2022.

In September 2023, Jackman filed for divorce from Australian actress Deborra-Lee Furness after 27 years of marriage.

At the time, Furness and Jackman released a joint statement announcing their split.

“We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” the statement read.

“Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”

They share two adopted children, 24-year-old Oscar and 19-year-old Ava.

A number of sources have told Page Six Jackman, 56, and Foster are not only moving on together but “in love”.

“They are 100 per cent together and are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together,” a source said.

“They go out of their way to hide it, but it’s common knowledge.”
