‘We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say.’

Rumours circulate about a possible Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding scheduled for 4 July at Madison Square Garden, with reports suggesting 1,100 guests and multiple performances including Stevie Nicks.

Justin Baldoni and his wife Emily have broken their two-year silence on their explosive legal battle with Blake Lively, describing the ordeal as deeply traumatic and, at times, “disguised as a fight for women”.

The actor and director, 42, shared a candid Instagram video on Thursday explaining why the couple chose not to speak publicly during the height of the dispute.

“We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say,” Baldoni said.

“Because lord knows we have, but it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this… something was telling us not to. It just didn’t feel like the right time.”

The couple said they are now speaking out following the May 4 settlement that brought their long-running It Ends With Us legal saga to an abrupt end just weeks before trial.

Lively had accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation, claims he denied. He later filed a $US400 million countersuit alleging defamation and breach of contract, which was dismissed. A judge also threw out 10 of Lively’s 13 claims, including her sexual harassment allegation, before the case was ultimately settled.

Reflecting on the past two years, Emily said the couple had been left grappling with both gratitude and pain.

“We can genuinely say that we are sitting here today with immense gratitude for so many things that have happened to us,” she said.

“It doesn’t negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years.”

She added: “We’ve had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like how could something like this even happen? Let alone disguised as a fight for women.

“The truth is, the reality is there’s been a lot of trauma for us to move through as a family, which also makes it hard to speak.”

Baldoni agreed, saying the experience had been marked by “so many painful things that have been spoken into existence untruthful over the last couple of years”.

“That created so much noise, and we didn’t want to add to the noise,” he said. “So we just wanted to let the justice system run its course.”

Emily said their decision to remain silent ultimately allowed “the truth and the facts have spoken for themselves”.

Despite the toll, the couple said they are now focused on healing.

“We are healing. If you’ve ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn’t linear,” Baldoni said.

“It looks different every day. We have had to rethink for ourselves what is real, and what matters. It’s this — it’s our family, it’s our friends, it’s our community... it’s our faith.”

He added that support from loved ones and fans helped carry them through.

“There were so many of you who, when we didn’t have a voice… you had a prayer,” he said.

“And so many of you had discernment... and you have given your time to fight for us. And thank you does not feel like enough.”

Emily said while there is “so much more to say”, for now the focus remains on moving forward.

“We are going to focus on continuing the healing and hanging out with our kiddos and enjoying life.”

Baldoni added: “When God presses the reset button and everything else is stripped away, that’s when love shows up.”
