Kyle Sandilands announces starting line-up for new show after cutting ties with ARN

Kyle Sandilands has revealed details of his new show after cutting ties with ARN, as the shock jock prepares to launch his new project in just weeks.

As reported by News.com.au, the publication’s senior culture reporter Mary Madigan has been named as the 55-year-old’s first on-air recruit as he previews Kyle Sandilands Live.

The pair released a social media clip detailing how their dynamic would work, with Madigan, 31, to be one of several additional voices to appear.

“Mary will present the news and any gossip news and also be a total voice with the rest of us,” Sandilands said.

“So I will present the show and Mary will be like the second tier and then there’s also the other ensemble cast as well.

“So there’ll be a lot of different voices which is what we want to do for this program.”

Kyle said he had been a fan of Madigan for some time after enjoying her vox pop interviews, and the energy she brought to morning TV programs.

The reporter had also been regularly welcomed onto The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

“She was great on the air. It was just a nice electric, high energy feel and she was funny,” Sandilands added.

“I thought, ‘Well, that’s it. Tick, tick, tick. I’ll take that one’.”

Also joining the new venture will be executive producer Jaimee Blazquez who had worked on his previous radio show for more than nine years.

The former hosts of The Kyle and Jackie O Show disbanded after Sandilands made offensive remarks on-air towards his co-presenter in February, which triggered her to walk out.

Both are no longer employed by parent company ARN, with Sandilands said to receive a cash settlement from his former employer of more than $12 million.

As the solo driving force behind Kyle Sandilands Live, the controversial figure said he had been left with “no option” but to proceed without his long-time radio mate.

“Like this is what I do. Obviously, Jackie must be in the space where she doesn’t want to do that anymore,” he said.

“But time will tell because she’s still in court, so we won’t be able to speak until after that.”

Sandilands feels many radio duos or trios lose their way when they begin to compete with each other for the last word, but it was important to listen and learn from those whose cultures or ideas differ to one’s own.

Of Madigan, he said the pair have “good chemistry” and praised her for being able to “chat and chat and chat”.

Kyle Sandilands Live will make its debut on August 10, broadcasting live via a stand-alone app from 6am to 10am, Monday through to Friday.

Listeners will be required to purchase a subscription with an annual cost of $99.

It will allow them to rewind the show and have the option to even video call in, with the experienced presenter expecting his streamlined offering to be well-received.

“The things that you hated, the commercial breaks and the constant beeping that was like you were listening to Morse code, that’ll all be gone,” Sandilands said.

“So you’ll hear us free from government interference, free from mental case lunatic groups that are trying to shut down advertisers. We just bypassed all of them.

“So someone will pay $2 a week to never hear an ad again and to never hear a censorship again.”
