MAFS star Filip Gregov breaks silence after ex fiance Stella Mickunaite ‘blindsided’ by shock split

MAFS star Filip Gregov has spoken out after his ex fiance Stella claimed she was “heartbroken” by his decision to call off their engagement in recent weeks.

Considered one of the 2026 season’s golden couples, the pair appeared to be living happily together for months before rumours of their break-up emerged.

On Tuesday, Stella confirmed they had gone their separate ways.

“I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, but I feel it’s important to share my truth,” Stella said earlier this week.

“Filip ended our relationship. While he had clearly been processing that decision for some time, I genuinely believed we were working towards the same future. I was completely blindsided.”

The pair had plans to commit to a life together in Melbourne, Filip’s hometown, but they never quite solidified them as Stella had been looking for a way to tie up her career in Sydney.

She said starting a family was “something I’ve hoped for for a long time”, and that she felt the couple were on the same page.

“Instead, I received a phone call ending our relationship. I am heartbroken, deeply saddened and, if I’m honest, incredibly embarrassed that something I believed in so wholeheartedly didn’t work out the way I had hoped. While I respect that everyone has the right to choose what’s best for them, I also feel it’s important that the facts are clear,” she added.

Following Stella’s candid revelation, Filip offered his take on the pair’s split via a social media statement.

“First of all I wanted to say thanks to everyone that has reach out for support during this tough time. If I haven’t been able to get back to you I just wanted to let you know, thank you,” he wrote.

“I initially chose not to comment publicly because I didn’t want to contribute to online negativity. All I will say is, I’m not going to debate our relationship on social media. I respect what we shared, wish Stella the best, and I’m moving forward with peace and gratitude.”

Fans of the former MAFS couple were split over how he handled the break-up, with some feeling his actions should have remained private, and others suggesting a “phone call” was not good enough.

“I think it’s the way you ended things that people have the issue with, not the fact that you were feeling the way you were and felt that it was too big to move past,” one person said.

“Much respect. I think Stella’s stance has been a little tacky. No one knows what went on behind closed doors,” another said.

Seeing the weight of commentary rising, Stella herself left a comment pleading with fans to refrain from speaking on a matter on which they possessed no additional context.

She said neither party need to be painted as “villains” and that break-ups could be painful on both sides.

“Guys, this really needs to stop. Whatever assumptions are being made online, the reality is that this is someone I genuinely believed I was going to spend my life with. Seeing so much hate directed at another human being is heartbreaking,” Stella began.

“Our relationship ending doesn’t make either of us villains. We were two people trying to navigate something incredibly difficult, and call me delulu but break ups do hurt on either side.

“I don’t think I’m the only one hurting here so seeing this is actually making me sick. Yes it came as a blindsided decision, but at the end of the day, YOU DON’T have to choose sides!!!!! Please just choose kindness. Neither of us deserves abuse.”
