Coldplay kiss-cam scandal: Chris Martin grills concert-goer over relationship status before he proposes
Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin has grilled a concert-goer over his relationship status in a pointed reference to the kiss-cam ‘debacle’.
During a concert in Wembley at the weekend he helped the fan propose to his girlfriend, but not before he asked a few cheeky questions.
On July 16, Coldplay’s now famous kiss-cam exposed an alleged affair between Astronomer executives Kristin Cabot and Andy Byron after they were caught on camera getting cozy.

At the time, Martin was shocked and called them out by saying, “either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy”.
It was later revealed both Cabot and Byron were married to other people, with both now no longer employed at the tech company.
The love struck fan at the recent Wembley concert held up a sign that read “I want to propose to her” with an arrow pointing down to a woman he was standing behind, attracting the attention of Martin.
“OK, now listen, my brother, I need you to nod as I do some basic security checks, OK?” Martin said, prompting the audience to laugh.
Tongue in cheek, he asked the man, “Is this person your partner ?” At a nod confirming that indeed she was, Martin then asked more pointedly “yes, no one else’s partner?”
“Are you cousins or siblings or anything weird like that?”
“No, ok, are you AI, are you real people? OK, then I think we can continue.”
Martin then broke into song telling the man ”Well listen my beautiful brother, here is some advice for free. As we all look on , let’s see you go down, I advise you to get down on one knee.”
Which the man promptly did with the happy couple kissing to seal the deal to the delight of the tens of thousands of other fans at the concert.
Last week, Martin spoke directly about the scandal during a concert in Hull, UK, saying it was a “debacle”.
“We are so happy to be here. Many of you have written signs. So, I’ll take some time to try and read some signs. Then we’ll see what happens,” Hull Live reports. .
“First of all (sign reads) ‘three times in three months’, You were at that Boston gig. Well, okay, thank you for coming again after that debacle.”
Later he said “We’ve been doing this a long time (stopping shows to talk to fans) and it is only recently that it became a...yeah. So yeah, life throws you lemons and you’ve got to make lemonade. So, we are going to keep doing it because we are going to meet some of you.”
