Heavy metal superstars Metallica have received a collective head-bang and air guitar of approval from Aussie fans as they announced they are returning after nearly a decade.

The pioneering kings of hard rock have locked in shows on their M72 world tour for Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney kicking off in November 2025.

The rockers will be bringing support acts Evanescence — with hits Bring Me To Life and Going Under — as well as Suicidal Tendencies, best known for their hit Institutionalized.

The tour will mark the first time Metallica will hit Aussie shores since the 2013 Soundwave festival, where they headlined along with Linkin Park and Blink-182.

Master of Puppets and Enter Sandman are set to blast across Aussie stadiums after their previous Australian stadium tour in 2020 was cancelled after lead singer and rhythm guitarist James Hetfield entered a rehab facility.

The band will play Perth’s Optus Stadium on November 1 next year, followed by Adelaide Oval on November 5, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on November 8, Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on November 12, Sydney’s Accor Stadium on November 15, and Eden Park in Auckland on November 19.

Accor Stadium’s website confirmed the infamous Snake Pit will be included throughout the tour, which “makes you a part of the show and is the closest place to the stage to see the band”, according to Metallica’s website.

The world tour kicked off in April 2023 following the release of their latest album 72 Seasons.

Presales for the Aussie and New Zealand dates are set to begin next week.
