Taylor Swift has dropped the bombshell announcement all Swifties have been waiting for — her 12th album, called The Life of a Showgirl.

On August 12 at 12.12am (US time), the global pop superstar dropped the exciting music news after intense speculation from fans about the announcement.

The album comes after it was confirmed Swift would appear on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast New Heights on August 13 — Swift’s lucky number.

In a podcast sneak peek, Swift is seen with Kelce and his brother and co-host Jason where she pulls out a briefcase with her initials on it.

“So I wanted to show you something,”

“This is my brand new album The Life of a Showgirl.”

Jason then yelled with excitement and her boyfriend exclaimed: “TS 12!”

Before the album announcement, a countdown on Swift’s website appeared with a dazzling orange background behind it.

Swifties began speculating a new era was on the horizon after Taylor Nation, the singer’s in-house marketing team, posted to Instagram on the morning of August 11: “Thinking about when she said ‘See you next era…’.”

The 12-photo carousel featured her orange bodysuits and dresses from the Eras Tour, along with a shot of her and Sabrina Carpenter during the surprise song set in New Orleans.

Not long before the Taylor Nation post, 12 minutes to be precise, Kelce’s account and the New Heights podcast page jointly teased a “VERY special guest” for the episode on Wednesday.

The graphic in the post featured a silhouette resembling Swift and used the same glittery orange backdrop.

Fans believe the new album will feature upbeat songs about romance which would be a different shift from her last album The Tortured Poets Department in which she sings about heartbreak and grief.

It’s rumoured to be her “glitter gel pen” type songs which she described as having “lyrics that make you want to dance, sing and toss glitter around the room”.

“They remind you not to take yourself too seriously, which is something we all need to hear these days,” she said at the Nashville Songwriter Awards.

In October last year, Swift was spotted wearing glitter freckles to one of Kelce’s Chiefs games and since then, fans have speculated that TS12 could be a Glitter Gel Pen album.

Swift is yet to say when the album will be released but fans can pre-order it via her website.
