The singer shared the story off the back of her GUTS tour that included Australia.

Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo revealed she was mistakenly taken for a criminal at the Canadian border, sharing the ordeal with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

The 21-year-old Guts singer recounted the surreal experience, saying it all happened while crossing from Canada to Portland via private bus on her world tour.

“We were at border control and I hand over my passport, thinking it was routine,” Rodrigo said.

“Then, out of nowhere, they knock on our door and ask for Olivia.”

Assuming it was a simple autograph request, Rodrigo stepped off the bus — only to be led to an interrogation room about 3am.

“I was delirious, and suddenly there’s this big cop with a gun asking if I’d ever been arrested,” she said with a laugh.

“I started second-guessing myself, thinking, ‘Maybe I was arrested and didn’t know it!’.”

The Grammy winner said she was “freaking out” when the officer warned she could face jail time for lying to a federal agent.

After 30 tense minutes, officers realised they were searching for “Olivia Rodriguez,” a criminal with a similar name and appearance.

“Jimmy, I’m pissed!” Rodrigo said with a laugh as the audience joined in.

Rodrigo recently completed the Australian leg of her Guts tour, performing for sold-out crowds across Sydney and Melbourne.

The tour will continue across South America and Europe into the new year, with her latest Netflix special, Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour, premiering this week.

Performing in Sydney on October 21, the singer told the crowd, “What the f***, you’re making me cry,” as she wiped away a tear, as seen in a TikTok posted by The Off Cut Au.

“I love you guys so much.

“I told myself I wouldn’t cry but tomorrow is the very last day of the Guts World Tour and I’m very, very emotional about it.”

Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo has been spotted in Melbourne ahead of her first concert tonight at Rod Laver arena.

The Vampire singer added she was “so thankful that you guys bought tickets and put on your sparkly little outfits, it’s something I’ll never get used to”.

“I just think about the little eight-year-old Olivia watching this and how proud and excited she would be and it makes me just so emotional. I’m so grateful for you guys.

“It’s just like my biggest dream come true and I cannot thank you enough. It’s all because of you so thank you, so, so much.

“I’m gonna stop crying now,” she said, moving onto the next song in her set.
