Other Mommy trailer: Jessica Chastain’s new horror leaves viewers terrified
Jessica Chastain’s new horror is already freaking viewers out, with a seriously creepy mother-daughter twist. WARNING: Jump scare.
When someone’s body twists underneath them, you know you’re in for a proper horror ride, and one that definitely isn’t for the faint-hearted.
The trailer for Other Mommy has just dropped, and it’s already leaving viewers seriously unsettled.
It opens with Jessica Chastain’s character arriving home early from work, greeted by her daughter in an eerily off-kilter exchange. In a calm but chilling tone, she says: “Sometimes I think about when you and I were one person. Do you remember that” before following up with the even more disturbing question of whether she can “go inside her heart”.

At one point, the young girl reassures her real mother off-screen: “You don’t have to be scared, mummy — she’s nice,” before adding, “Sometimes she’s there and sometimes she’s not.” It’s the kind of line that lingers long after the trailer ends.
Chastain, no stranger to the horror genre after roles in Mama and IT: Chapter Two, takes on a twisted dual role in the film. Based on Josh Malerman’s New York Times bestselling novel Incidents Around the House, the story follows a young girl named Bela who forms a disturbing connection with an entity that looks exactly like her mother.
Chastain plays both the mother and the thing pretending to be her, while Jay Duplass stars as the child’s father.
Behind the scenes, the film brings together some big names in horror. James Wan, the mastermind behind The Conjuring universe, is producing for Blumhouse Atomic Monster, while Host and The Boogeyman director Rob Savage directs the film — a combination that suggests this won’t just be creepy, but genuinely terrifying.
If the trailer is anything to go by, Other Mommy is shaping up to be one of the most haunting releases of the year.

“Ok but I didn’t ask to be absolutely TRAUMATIZED before watching the Odyssey lol,” another wrote.
