Australian television personality Peter Everett has addressed the scandalous allegations that he sexually touched a teenage boy, speaking to media outside a Sydney police station as he reported for bail.

The former Ready Steady Cook host was arrested on Saturday afternoon at a home on the NSW Central Coast following an investigation into an alleged incident that involved a 16-year-old.

Despite being advised by his solicitor not to speak on the accusations, the 66-year-old broke his silence as he left Waverley Police Station on Tuesday.

“I am holding up as well as possible,” he told a Daily Mail Australia reporter.

“My solicitor has advised me not to speak, but I am pleading not guilty.”

According to reports, Everett first attempted to avoid a waiting media scrum by driving around Sydney’s eastern suburbs for two hours before returning to the station to make a short statement.

Everett was taken to Wyong Police Station on Saturday, where he was charged with sexually touching another person without consent.

He then spent the night behind bars before appearing at Parramatta Court on Sunday, where he was granted bail with strict conditions, which include reporting to the police station twice a week.

The matter will be heard again at Wyong Local Court on Thursday.

Everett took over Ready Steady Cook hosting duties from chef Nick Stratford in 2006. He hosted the show until 2011.
