Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster at the Met Gala 2026 as sources say he wants peace with Deborra-Lee Furness

Hugh Jackman debuted his girlfriend, Sutton Foster, at the Met Gala as sources reveal he’s urging his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness to move on peacefully from their high-profile split.

The Australian acting legend looked schmick at this year’s highly-anticipated fashion event, wearing a Giorgio Armani tuxedo adorned with a diamond brooch.

He smiled as he held hands with Foster, who glowed in a shiny gold dress for her first Met as they posed together for photographers.

The couple, who have been dating since late 2024, shared loving glances throughout their red carpet appearance, with Jackman watching proudly as Foster posed solo.

It comes after Jackman and Furness attended multiple Met Galas together throughout their marriage, with their first appearance in 2004 and last in 2023, just four months before their split.

Jackman memorably attended the 2024 event alone and missed last year’s altogether.

Jackman bringing Foster as his date to the internationally watched gala also comes as insiders recently revealed that the Wolverine actor is willing to take responsibility for their marriage breakdown and hopes to move forward.

“He’s ready to take total responsibility for his part in the breakdown of their marriage. Hugh never intended to hurt Deb,” the source told Radar Online.

“Hugh feels terrible that things have gotten so ugly between them.

“They have decades of history together, and he would love it if they could take the good of that and leave the bad behind.”

Jackman is ultimately hoping he and Furness can heal in time for their daughter Ava’s 21st birthday in July.

“Ava turns 21 in July and Hugh would like for them to all celebrate the moment together. That’s why he’s really pushing to get together with Deb and hash things out,” the source added.

“He wants her to feel heard, and his hope is that she’ll be able to own her part in things too. But if Deb still isn’t there yet, Hugh says he’s fine continuing to take the brunt of the blame if it means they can have some peace.”

Furness filed for divorce from Jackman in May 2025 and said in a statement: “My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal.”

Earlier this year, rumours swirled that Jackman proposed to Foster during a romantic trip to Costa Rica and they could marry as soon as her divorce from screenwriter Ted Griffin is finalised.

Foster filed for divorce in October 2024 following nearly 10 years of marriage and shares 10-year-old daughter Emily with Griffin.
