English TV star Janet Montgomery has revealed her “heartbreak” of becoming a single mother just days after giving birth to her second child in 2025.

Known for her roles in New Amsterdam and Scarpetta, the 40-year-old quietly split from husband Joe Fox whom she married in 2019.

Penning a candid post on social media, Montgomery shed light on her private struggle.

“Last year, my life changed in a way I never could have imagined,” she said.

“Just ten days after welcoming my beautiful son into the world, I found myself navigating the heartbreak of becoming a single mother to two children.

“There were moments I wasn’t sure how I would make it through the next hour, let alone the next day. Grief, exhaustion, fear, uncertainty, and the overwhelming responsibility of showing up for two little people who needed me no matter what.”

The former pair share daughter Sunday, born months before they tied the knot in 2019, and son Milo, welcomed in 2025.

Montgomery did not state a reason for their separation or directly mention Fox, though he remains present on her social media feed.

She lamented the period as some of her “darkest days”, and thanked her loyal community for supporting her young family along the way.

“This chapter has tested me more than any other in my life, but it has also shown me the incredible strength that exists in community,” she added.

“Thank you for holding space for our story. Thank you for letting me share it. Thank you for helping me feel a little less alone.”

Sharing a carousel of photos emblematic of her family’s recent journey, Montgomery offered a glimpse into their life at home, catching up with friends, and their pursuit of joy amid the grey.

She said her healing journey is not linear, and that “we still have hard days ahead of us”.

Fans of the actor may recognise her from her cameo as Beth in season two of British cult favourite Skins, and subsequent work in Entourage, as well as Human Target.

Montgomery’s famous friends sent their well-wishes upon learning of her ordeal.

“We love you sis,” film star Jamie Chung wrote.

“Love you forever ❤️”, Netflix actor Ashley Madekwe said.

Skins season three cast member Katie Prescott offered simply a love heart emoji.

Montgomery’s break-up has proven no speed bump on the professional front, recently confirmed to play a central cast member in drama series The Rookie: North.
