The annual Met Gala always attracts some of the most outrageous and extravagant outfits the fashion world has ever seen, and this year was no exception.

To celebrate the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Costume art”, this year’s theme for the Met Gala is “Fashion is art”, and celebrities truly tapped into their inner artist.

Sheer and daring dressing was a major trend, as huge names in pop culture began ascending the iconic Met Museum stairs.

Cara Delevingne admitted she wasn’t wearing any underwear underneath her black gown with a mesh back. The sides of the halter neck dress were also mesh, exposing the sides of her breasts.

“Chic in the front, party in the back,” she told model Ashley Graham, who is hosting the Vogue live stream with Delevingne.

Graham replied: “Look at that tiny little butt.”

French social media star Lena Mahfouf arrived in a daring ensemble showing off the art of the human form.

The sheer bottom was paired with a set of moulded hands holding her breasts.

Kylie Jenner shocked onlooking paparazzi and media when she arrived in a nude look dress. The nude coloured corset that sculptured her body included anatomical details like nipples and a belly button.

Doja Cat exposed some skin with a high split in her dress, which offered a monochromatic look to match her skin tone and hair.

Supermodel Gigi Hadid sparkled in a black mesh dress with black and silver flames strategically placed on the garment to cover her breasts.

Her satin Miu Miu undies were on full show.

“I love the Met ball because I love the themes, it’s our version of high school art class with everyone we work with,” Hadid told Graham and Delevingne.

“I love anything turned into costume,” she continued, adding that the look was “sexy” and gave a “romance night in the garden” vibe.

Russian model and actress Irina Shayk arrived in a showstopping look consisting of a jewelled bra and low-rise skirt with her toned torso on full display.

Singer Suki Waterhouse looked pretty in pink wearing a gown that was gaping in the front and just covered her breasts.
