A good movie isn’t complete without a bucket of popcorn, but this latest release promises a bit more with a wild marketing campaign.

Scary Movie 6 is the latest iteration of the parody film series which first began in 2000, starring Marlon and Shawn Wayans alongside an ensemble of celebrity casting.

While the original movie took a swing at promotional rolling papers, the latest instalment has stepped it up a notch with the wild popcorn bucket.

Announcing the release online with the official Scary Movie account, the ‘waterpipe’ resembles that of a bong-shaped bucket which has been labelled “the popcorn bucket theatres were never ready for”.

Coming in four different sizes, the glass globe-bottomed vessel is fully kitted with a vertical tube and side stem, perfect for holding butter, with the stunt catered towards the movie’s target audience.

It’s not the first time that a marketing team has taken creative liberty with popcorn buckets, notably the latest Deadpool and Dune movies went viral for their crack at a bucket.

But this has reached a whole new level, leaving fans shocked and questioning if it is real.

“Give the marketing team a raise oh my god,” one fan said.

“This is hilarious, and it’d be awesome if they released these at theatres, but seeing the different sizes at the end leads me to believe it’s not real...,” one sceptical commenter wrote.

Others have asked the question on everyone’s mind, saying “does it really work tho?”

For all those questioning if the product would actually be released, movie director Michael Tiddes went into the comments and wrote: “Yes... it’s real!”

While it is uncertain if the bucket will be available in Australia, fans will have to wait and see when the movie releases in June.
