“The amount of times it’s been like me and another girl... my whole career. It‘s just harder than you think.
“People think like, ‘Oh, just get on the show or do a film’. It’s not that easy, and for me, it’s always down to the last two.”
Sursok, 42, was quickly met with support from colleagues who shared her frustration and plight.
“So sh** and such a hard industry. Hopefully it’s the next one xx,” TV personality Anna Heinrich said.
“Never gets easier in this game but you’re so insanely talented and the fact that you’re always getting so close shows that’s it’s just a matter of WHEN and not if. ✨,” Aussie actor Lincoln Lewis added.
While the public may find it difficult to sympathise with an ostensibly successful actress, many of Sursok’s fans wrapped their virtual arms around her.
“Sending love. Your feelings are valid and you are seen in this disappointment,” one wrote.
Another said, “Just know that there are so many of us who want and would LOVE to see you lead a show or a movie!!!”
Several hours later, Sursok posted another candid monologue to her IG story appearing in slightly better spirits.
“I don’t know if there’s a better job waiting for me. I don’t know if rejection is protection. I don’t know if one door closes another one opens, but I do know this. I have one life, and I’m going to continue fighting for the one thing that I believe I was promised earth for, which is to tell stories, and that is my purpose here,” she said.

In her breakout Aussie role, Sursok appeared as Dani Sutherland in Home and Away for several years in the early 2000s.
She also gained a following for recurring roles as Jenna Marshall in Pretty Little Liars, and Colleen Carlton on The Young and the Restless.
