Zendaya and Tom Holland engaged: The speculation is correct, the Spider-Man co-stars are getting married

It didn’t take long for eagle-eyed viewers to notice the big chunk of shiny rock Zendaya was sporting on her ring finger on the Golden Globes red carpet, a glaring beacon against her copper Louis Vuitton gown.

This sparked a flurry of speculation that Zendaya and Tom Holland had become fianced. For one thing, the ring was a Jessica McCormack piece, while Zendaya is contracted to Bulgari. For another, she was seen showing off the stone to Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal and The Bear star Ayo Edebiri during the ceremony.

All the signs were pointing toward the chapel.

And now we have confirmation. According TMZ sources, the pair are indeed engaged. Holland reportedly proposed during the holiday period between Christmas and New Year’s at one of Zendaya’s homes in the US. People magazine also confirmed the news.

Zendaya and Holland, both 28, are notoriously private as a couple and rarely pose together on a red carpet (the last time was on the Spider-Man: No Way Home red carpet in 2021), but have been spotted in the wild at basketball games, tennis matches, an Usher concert and perusing art at The Louvre.

Holland did share one cheeky titbit about their relationship during the Dish podcast in December — that when he and Zendaya are working on the same film, the studios only have to book one hotel room.

He also said that with both of their professional lives in the spotlight, “that’s where Zendaya and I have been such a strong couple, is in the spirit of being able to relate to one another on something that is very, very unique”.

The two met during filming on the 2017 movie Spider-Man: Homecoming, the first of a trilogy, but didn’t confirm their relationship until late 2021. They’re both due to be in the next Christopher Nolan movie.

There’s also a fourth Spider-Man film in the works. Holland shared some details on the Rich Roll podcast in October: “We have a creative and a pitch and a draft, which is excellent.

“It needs work but the writers are doing a great job, and I read it three weeks ago. It really lit a fire in me,” he said.

“Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we, at times, were bouncing around the living room like, ‘This is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect’. But there are a few things we need to figure out before we can get that really going, but it’s exciting, and I’m really excited about it.”

Zendaya was at the Golden Globes because she was nominated for her performance in Challengers. Her other projects include movies The Greatest Showman, Dune and TV series Euphoria. Her break-out role was as a child actor on the Disney Channel show Shake It Up.

Holland studied dancing as a child and made his debut in Billy Elliott on stage at London’s West End. He starred in The Impossible in 2012 but was catapulted to fame when he was cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Sony and Marvel’s movies. He has also been in Chaos Walking, Uncharted and Wolf Hall.
