Prime Video’s award-winning comedy series Deadloch heads to the Northern Territory for season two

Deadloch is swapping the freezing Apple Isle for the steaming tropics for season two.

Prime Video today announced that production has already commenced in the Northern Territory, with the series filming in Darwin and surrounds for several weeks before relocating to Brisbane and Queensland for the remainder of the shoot.

The six-part comedy series, created and written by renowned comedy double-act Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan, sees Kate Box and Madeleine Sami reprise their roles as detectives Dulcie Collins and Eddie Redcliffe.

Joining them in their new tropical surrounds are series regulars Nina Oyama, who plays young police officer Abby Matsuda, and Alicia Gardiner, Dulcie’s sweet-natured wife, Cath York.

Deadloch was an enormous hit for Prime Video, reaching the Top 10 TV Shows in more than 165 countries and territories, including the US, UK, and Canada.

It won five AACTA awards earlier this year, and picked up another three Logie nominations at this year’s awards.

“We are so excited to be bringing the second season of Deadloch to life in beautiful Garramilla/Darwin and we’re beyond thrilled to be working with this exceptional crew and cast of actors, dogs and crocodiles,” McCartney and McLennan said in a joint statement.

The second series of the hit comedy, which teased its new location in series one’s nail-biter finale last year, sees several new faces join the cast, including Steve Bisley, The Sapphires star Shari Sebbens, writer Jean Tong in her debut acting role, as well as Damien Garvey, Genevieve Morris, Ngali Shaw and Ursula Yovic.

Details are being kept a closely guarded secret, but season two will reportedly see Dulcie and Eddie team up once more in Darwin to investigate the death of Eddie’s former policing partner, Bushy.

But it won’t be smooth sailing: “when the body of a Top End icon is discovered in a remote town, they are flung into a new sweatier, stickier investigation,” an official release reads.

There is no air date set yet for the second series, but Prime Video has announced it will distribute the show globally to more than 240 countries and territories.

This season is produced by Andy Walker, and directed by Beck Cole and Gracie Otto.
