Kyle Sandilands was overjoyed to discover he had become a doting great-uncle while presenting live radio on Wednesday morning.

The 52-year-old radio host was delighted to receive a message in the middle of his KIIS FM Kyle and Jackie O show that his step-sister’s daughter had given birth to a little girl named Aria.

Opening the message live on-air, Sandilands read: “Miss Aria was born to Sammie and Nick at 3.58 this morning.”

“Oh you’re an uncle,’ Jackie O Henderson said as Sandilands added: “Oh, little Aria, how sweet.”

“Is that the first time you’ve been an uncle?” Henderson asked.

“I didn’t even know her kid was pregnant so that’s quite the surprise... My sister is 60,” Sandilands said.

“I’m the great uncle of my step-sister’s adopted children’s child. That’s family, in any way shape or form.”

Henderson asked, “Are you going to respond to that text?” to which Sandilands responded: “Probably not”.

The controversial personality received some more happy family news of late, revealing his wife Tegan had changed her surname to Sandilands on all government-issued documents.

The 37-year-old had previously gone by her maiden name, Kynaston.

The couple got married in Sydney’s Darling Point in front of 130 guests in April last year.

They welcomed a baby boy, Otto, in August 2022.
