A week after his tragic passing, Tim Curry’s cause of death has been revealed.
Aged 80, the beloved British actor died on August 25 in his Los Angeles home at 11.18pm.
Curry’s longtime manager, Marcia Hurwitz, said he “passed away peacefully”.

People revealed on Thursday that Curry died of coronary artery disease, citing health documents.
According to those documents, the 80-year-old had a history of stroke and kidney cancer, as well as other significant conditions which may have contributed to his death but were not the underlying cause.
No operations were performed on Curry for his coronary artery disease, kidney cancer, or stroke history.
While Curry is best known for his breakout role of Dr Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, he has a long filmography of stellar films.
Outside of television and cinema, the late actor had an illustrious theatre career and was nominated three times for a Tony award for best lead actor, twice in a musical and once in a play.
In September 2025, at a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show for its 50th anniversary, the actor provided a health update to audiences.
“I still can’t walk, which is why I’m in this silly chair, and that’s very limiting,” he said.
“So I won’t be singing and I won’t be dancing very soon. I still have real problems with my left leg.
“I was having a massage at the time and I didn’t even actually notice anything, but the guy who was doing the massage said, ‘I’m worried about you, I want to call an ambulance.’
“And he did, and I said, ‘That’s so silly’.”
Since suffering the stroke, Curry largely remained out of the spotlight but remained involved in voice over projects.
After his death, tributes from fans and former co-stars flooded social media.
Carol Burnett, who played his sister Miss Hannigan in Annie, wrote, “We had such a wonderful time working together on Annie”.
“Nobody could play lovable villains better than he could,” she wrote on Instagram.
While Rob Schneider, who appeared in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York with Curry posted on X that he was “gutted” over the death.
“A truly gifted performer of stage and screen, his one eyebrow could say more than most actors entire bodies,” he wrote.
