There’s an obvious joke here about how everybody wanted this.
The Kristen Bell and Adam Brody rom-com Nobody Wants This is coming back for a second season, Netflix has confirmed.
The 10-episodes series was an immediate hit with both critics and audiences when it debuted two weeks ago so it was a no-brainer that the streamer wanted more. In its first 10 days of release, it clocked up 35.4 million views, according to Netflix figures.

They may not be compatible on paper but sparks fly and they have to navigate what it takes for a non-believer gentile and a Jewish rabbi to be together, especially as he’s up for promotion and marrying within the faith is a non-negotiable.
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR SEASON ONE
After a bunch of to-ing and fro-ing, some prosciutto-related conflict and the question of whether Joanne will convert to Judaism, the first season ended on THE KISS but the story obviously continues. Now, we’ll get to see it.
Brody told Netflix’s Tudum website that closing moment was Noah signalling to Joanne that even if she’s not ready to convert, he will put her first. “Everything else will work itself out, but I’m saying you are my priority,” Brody said. “In the light of day, will he still feel that way? I don’t know. It’s an open question”.
The return of Brody in a romantic lead role has also reignited the internet frenzy over his history of portraying the lovable, slightly geeky good guy boyfriend, most notably his iconic role as Seth Cohen in The OC.
The series also stars Justin Jupe (Succession) as Joanne’s sister, Morgan, and Timothy Simons (Veep) as Noah’s brother, Sasha.
Nobody Wants This was created by actor and writer Erin Foster, who will still serve as an executive producer for the next season.
She was inspired by her real-life romance with her now-husband and her conversion to Judaism for him. Foster is the daughter of musician David Foster.
There will be a switch-up behind the scenes with season one showrunner Jack Burditt (30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) leaving the series and being replaced with Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan.
Konner was a close collaborator of Lena Dunham’s, working together on Girls, Camping and their newsletter Lenny Letter.
The pair ended their partnership in 2018. She was also the showrunner on Welcome to Chippendales. Kaplan was on the writing staff of Six Feet Under, Seinfeld and Girls.
It is always a slight mystery which Netflix shows get another outing.
Shows can be well-watched and have high completion rates, but they will still not score another outing if they don’t sign up enough new subscribers. The streamer does not make public acquisition rates for a specific title.
For example, The Brothers Sun was a Michelle Yeoh-led series that debuted in January. In the Netflix biannual viewership report, the show was the 22nd most watched series for the first six months of this year.
It had 23.9 million views and clocked up 175 million hours, which, when extrapolated, suggested those who watched it also finished it. It was still cancelled.
Most recently, Netflix axed the Jeff Goldblum comedy Kaos a month after its debut.
