Tributes have been shared for original Married At First Sight cast member Lachlan Rofe after his shock death earlier this week.

Rofe, 47, who appeared on the reality series in 2015 and was also cast on Farmer Wants A Wife in 2016, was found dead at his home in Cawdor, near Camden in NSW.

MAFS co-star Michael O’Dea told Yahoo Lifestyle it is “very sad news”.

“So sad to hear about the passing of my MAFS mate Lachy,” they told the publication.

“He was a great, genuine guy, easy-going and always there for a laugh. You’ll be missed, mate.”

Messages were left under Rofe’s last Facebook post last month, seen in a selfie with a young girl at a church confirmation captioned “Proud, great night”.

“Fly higher than the rest, light the sky up you were always the entertainer you are free,” one person wrote.

“On R U OK day, it makes me wonder if we should’ve checked in with you sooner. Sometimes it seemed you weren’t yourself lately,” another said.

The cattle farmer’s death was confirmed by loved ones earlier this week, according to Daily Mail, with the cause of death yet to be announced.

Unable to escape controversy off-screen, Rofe was found guilty of assaulting his girlfriend Kasey Williams in 2017, but later had the charges dropped after appealing.

Williams claimed she was attacked by Rofe in front of her two-year-old daughter at his Sydney property in late 2016.

Rofe spoke to 7NEWS in 2018 following the charges, saying he was afraid to begin a new relationship, and hoped to repair his reputation.

“I’m too scared to even go see women ‘cos I just feel with everything that’s happened, I just feel like I’m a target,” he told 7NEWS at the time.
