Your afternoons are getting an upgrade: Channel Seven is shaking up its afternoon schedule with a brand-new lineup of game shows and news.

Kicking off from 1pm, Seven’s Winning Arvo will see hot new UK quiz shows Blankety Blank and Bridge of Lies joining perennial favourites The Chase UK and The Chase Australia, with news updates hosted by esteemed journalist Alex Cullen running hourly through the afternoon on weekdays.

“Starting Monday, 22 September, Seven’s exciting new Winning Arvo will serve up today’s biggest game show hits along with the latest breaking headlines straight from Australia’s number one news service, 7NEWS,” the network said.

“From 1pm weekdays on Seven and 7plus, Winning Arvo brings together the ultimate line-up of brain-teasing game shows, plus daily prizes for those who like to win while they watch.”

Blankety Blank is a British format hosted by quiz show fave Bradley Walsh, and is an updated version of the original version, which ran on UK TV during the seventies and eighties.

Bridge of Lies is a brand new format, and will see British star Ross Kempt stepping up to helm the intriguing new concept, which sees contestants “using knowledge, strategy and a little luck” to cross a bridge, spotting the lies along the way.

At the top of every hour, viewers will be able to stay informed as journalist Alex Cullen, who returned to Seven earlier this year, delivers extended live news updates from Australia and across the world.

“I’m so excited to be coming home to Seven and I can’t wait to take viewers through the afternoon with something that’s never been done before,” Cullen said.

“We’re making afternoons fun along with delivering the news that matters.”
