Home and Away: Iconic WA filming locations revealed for their upcoming episodes filmed in the West

Filming locations have been revealed for the first time ahead of Home and Away’s WA episodes, which will air on Monday March 9.

Amongst them are some of Western Australia’s most iconic spots, including Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area, Coral Bay, the dramatic landscapes of Charles Knife Canyon, plus Yardie Creek, Turquoise Bay and Shot Hole Canyon in Cape Range National Park.

“As we can see from the material in the recently-released teaser, it’s looking beautiful,” series star Bonnie Sveen said.

Sveen is returning to reprise her role as Ricky, alongside former Home and Away co-star Stephen Peacocke, who played her on-screen partner Brax for several years, before their characters both famously left the show in 2016.

Brax anad Ricky are both front and centre in the WA-filmed episodes, which will see audiences re-introduced to the beloved couple a decade on.

“A world away from his surfer days in Summer Bay, Brax is now working on a remote cattle station deep in the WA outback,” an official release reads.

“Brax, Ricky and their son Casey (Austin Cutcliffe) have quietly built a whole new life for themselves, far removed from the chaos they left behind.”

Sveen was one of 38 cast and crew who travelled to Western Australia to film.

Their first filming location was Elizabeth Quay, then it was off to WA’s stunning Coral Coast for a 10-day shoot.

The crew was based at luxury campsite Bullara Station, which also doubles for the couple’s on-screen home in episodes set to air next week.

For Sveen, filming on the Coral Coast was a dream, with the location

at Yardie Creek a particular highlight.

“Luckily we got quite a big amount of time to film there, and a few hours on the Yardie Creek tour boat,” Sveen said.

“We got lots of time to really take in the gorgeous red limestone cliffs; we saw plenty of those black-footed rock wallabies, which was so amazing.

“Being from Tassie, to get to see these rare, precious native wildlife on the other side of the country was amazing — you couldn’t help but imagine what life must have been like for the Thalanyji people for the thousands of years before Colonisation.

“Just how serene and magical, and how proud that mob must be of their land.”

It is the first time in Home and Away’s 38-year history that the show has filmed in Western Australia — production normally takes place out of New South Wales, where Sydney’s iconic Palm Beach doubles for picturesque Summer Bay.

Production was brought to Western Australia with the assistance of Tourism WA.

Episodes in Western Australia will air over two weeks, starting Monday March 9 at 7pm.

Home and Away airs Mon-Thurs at 7pm on Seven and 7Plus.
