The Block’s Dan and Dani Reilly announce death of 10-day-old baby daughter Billie

The Block stars Dan and Dani Reilly have shared the devastating news their 10-day-old daughter, Billie Vera Reilly, has died.

The couple, who competed on the popular renovation reality show in 2012 and 2013, posted a heartfelt tribute and photo of themselves by Billie’s side in hospital.

“It is with insurmountable grief that we share the news that our daughter, Billie, has passed on from this life and into the next at just 10 days young,” they wrote on Friday.

Born on December 8, Billie passed away on December 18.

“In Billie’s short time in this world, she taught us an intensity of both love and pain we never knew possible,” the couple said.

“She taught us what really matters.

“Billie was so wanted, so loved and she made us parents … and what an honour it is to be her mummy and daddy. She will always be our daughter,” they shared.

“It’s clear to us that Billie was far too good for this world but if we know anything for sure, it’s that Billie’s legacy will make an impact greater than all of us.”

Dan and Dani expressed their deep gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and NICU staff at The Royal Women’s Hospital in Sydney for their “care and love”, encouraging their followers to donate to the hospital.

“The nurses, doctors and staff in NICU are some of the most incredible people to walk this earth and we’ll be forever grateful for the care and love they gave our girl, and us,” they wrote.

They concluded their message with a request for privacy as they grieve: “Lastly, we understand there will be questions, and so many of the answers we just don’t have yet.

“We’ll share more in time but for now we ask for privacy as we work through this together and with our loved ones.”

Their post ended with a touching quote: “You look so pretty, pretty like the sun. I could watch forever, while you shine on everyone.”

“We love you, Billie,” the couple wrote.

Friends and followers quickly rallied around the grieving couple, sharing messages in the comments.

“This is truly heartbreaking, I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. Sending you all the love and prayers,” 2024 The Block winner Charlotte Harry wrote, while her co-winner Madeleine Harry said: “This is absolutely heartbreaking. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.”

Fellow The Block contestant Haydn Wise said: “OMG I’m so sorry guys. She was beautiful and always will be. Sending lots of love to you both.”

“Sending love from everyone at The Block,” the TV show’s official Instagram said.

And 2022 The Block contestants Rachel and Ryan said: “From the bottom of our hearts, we are so very sorry ... sending you both so much love xoxo.”

Dan and Dani first appeared on The Block in 2012 as a dating couple, winning $448,000.

They returned for The Block: All Stars in 2013, taking home $220,000.

Dan became a foreman on the show in 2015, and the couple married in 2018 after nine years together.
