Discussing her break-up songs, Jagged Little Pill hit maker Alanis Morissette has surprised her podcast hosts by revealing her sexuality.
Alanis Morissette is pansexual.
The 52-year-old singer came out on the latest episode of comedians Tig Notaro, Mae Martin, and Fortune Feimster’s Handsome podcast after Feimster wondered whether the men who inspired her break-up songs had ever made her consider pursuing relationships with women.
“I’m sorry for the men that hurt you, but I’m not sorry for the songs that came from it. Did it make you want to be a lesbian at any point?” Fortune asked Alanis.

Surprised by the seven-time Grammy winner’s revelation, Notaro jumped in: “Wait, you’re not really pansexual, are you?”
Morissette confirmed: “I am.”
After Notaro joked that the You Oughta Know artist should have started the podcast episode by coming out, Morissette quipped: “I like to leave it for the epilogue.
“I like to confuse people on the way out. Is it confusing?”
Pansexuality is a sexual, romantic or emotional attraction to people regardless of their gender identity or sex.
Morissette has been married to 46-year-old hip-hop artist Mario “Souleye” Treadway since 2010, and they are parents to sons Ever, 15, and Winter, seven, and 10-year-old daughter Onyx.
