Australia’s most expensive streets revealed: Sydney tops the streets of gold
Australia’s most expensive streets have been revealed, and they are not getting any cheaper.
The most expensive street across the country was once again Wolseley Rd in the Sydney harbourside suburb of Point Piper.
The median price of properties in the high-end street has come in at a whopping $45 million, up from $33 million last year, according to Ray White’s research.

Those lofty prices don’t surprise luxury real estate agent Brad Pillinger of Pillinger, who has sold some of the most expensive houses in the suburb.
That includes Aussie John Symonds Point Piper mansion, which he is now selling and is expected to attract more than $200 million.
“Point Piper has been the number one suburb for some time,” Mr Pillinger said.
“They have big blocks on the waterfront, it is close to the city, there are postcard views, and each offering is unique.”
Elite market
He said Wolseley Road was a standout in a very exclusive suburb.
“It is an elite market within an elite market,” he said.
Currently on sale in the desirable street is a designer four-bedroom home with stunning harbour views.
Nine of the top 10 suburbs in Australia’s Most Expensive Streets list were in Sydney, all in the city’s eastern suburbs.
“There is a reason Sydney continues to be so popular,” said Ray White Group senior data analyst Atom Go Tian.
“Eight of Sydney’s top ten streets lie within a 20-minute walk of the coastline, suggesting that proximity to water remains a crucial determinant of property values at the highest end of the market.”
Mr Tian said that across the country, there were common traits among the most expensive streets.
“It’s the location, which has access to either water or nature,” he said.
Easy access to the city’s central business district and facilities, which offered a great social life, was also necessary.
“The unique thing is that balance between this access to nature and also having that convenience to the central business district,” Mr Go Tian said.
Melbourne high
St Georges Rd in Toorak was the only suburb outside of Sydney that made the top 10, coming in as the sixth most expensive with a median house price of $16.93 million.
Abercromby director Jock Langley, who has a long history selling in the top suburb, said St Georges Road was just one of several top streets in Toorak.
“Working in Toorak for 35 years, the interesting thing about it is there are a number of markets in it, from triple-A Toorak, through to A, B and C Toorak,” Mr Langley said.
He said St Georges Road was definitely in the top category with its wide tree-lined avenue and trophy homes.
“However, anything within this postcode is invaluable,” Mr Langley said.
The street’s most expensive sale was that of an $80 million property, since demolished, to crypto casino king Ed Craven.
Brisbane growth
Along with a national list, the Ray White research also looked at the most expensive streets in each capital city.
Brisbane’s most expensive street title went to Macquarie St in Teneriffe, with a median price of $6.9 million.
This was followed by Virginia Avenue in Hawthorne, which had a median house price of $4.9 million.
The third spot was Quay St in Bulimba, where the median-priced house was $4.825 million.
“Brisbane stands out for its more dispersed luxury market, with premium streets spread across several suburbs,” Mr Go Tian said.
Perth price rises
Perth, which saw a significant rise in prices across the city in 2025, also saw some of its long-running top suburbs and streets make the list.
“Perth’s luxury real estate concentrates in the Mosman Park and Peppermint Grove area, with Jutland Parade in Dalkeith comparing $6.35 million,” Mr Go Tian said.
Cities that saw their top streets come in under $5 million included Canberra, Adelaide and Hobart.
“Canberra’s premium market gravitates toward South Canberra, particularly in Red Hill and Deakin, where the National Circuit reaches $4.43 million,” he said.
“Adelaide’s luxury market splits between Walkerville and Burnside, with Church Terrace topping at $3.42 million.
“Hobart’s Sandy Bay area, particularly Red Chapel Avenue at $2 million, represents Tasmania’s premium market.”
The Ray White report looked at house prices between November 2021 and November 2024 and included only streets with at least five sales during that time.
