It’s considered one of the biggest crabs in the world, living up to 30 years old and can weigh 17.5kgs but are slow growing and many conservationists raising concerns for the close to endangered species.

The food influencer was at the Sydney seafood market to eat the crustacean with an eye popping price tag.

“We’re in Sydney trying a 8.5kg Tasmanian King Crab, the price tag, $2000,” Mr Inskip said.

“Holding this thing was like holding a bodybuilder of the sea and drew attention like I was on the red carpet, it comes in at 8.5kgs.

“I’m actually kind of scared, it feels like I’m about to eat a dinosaur under the sea.”

A quip that got commentors riled up after eating it was when he said it “tastes like chicken”.

The video, which racked up 7.5 million views across Instagram and TikTok, was flooded with angry viewers voicing their disgust for the meal.

“This is so sick .. you don’t need to be vegan to feel like this is wrong. I think the tone of your video glorifying killing a 15 or 30 (doesn’t matter ) years old innocent creature just to enjoy it for 15 min of pleasure makes it so wrong,” one viewer said.

“OMG! So sick - nothing to be proud of! Like sick trophy hunting. The sadest thing…,” a second person said.

“This is a crime!!!! How could you do that Todd!!!!,” another questioned.

“I normally love and support your content. This took it too far... unfollowing,” a follower wrote in disgust.

“Disgusting. Cruel and disheartening that you would eat something becoming endangered,” one person said.

Although not all were against the meal, with some jealous of the expensive feast.

“That looks DELICIOUS!!,” one wrote.

“’Y’all acting like he caught the crab. It was going to get eaten regardless. He was in a fish market. If he didn’t order it… Someone else would’ve,” another noted.
