An American man who won an insane $532 million jackpot in the Lotto has revealed the first big cash splash he made with his winnings.

The lucky punter took out the largest prize ever won in the US state of Virginia last month, and decided to claim a reduced winning of $238.2 million in one lump sum instead of the entire jackpot, which would have been paid out across 30 years.

He took out the Mega Millions jackpot that was drawn on June 27, waiting four weeks to come forward and collect his prize.

Now a millionaire, the American plans on buying a new, zero-radius riding lawn mower with his winnings, which are typically priced around $4600 according to the Mega Millions website.

Not the typical luxury item that punters would pick for their first cash splash, but it was the first choice for the Virginia man.

He purchased the ticket from a highway convenience store, which received a $50,000 bonus check for selling the winning ticket. His lucky numbers were 18, 21, 29, 42, 50 along with the 2 gold ball.

For Australian players, the Thursday Powerball has skyrocketed to $80 million after a fifth straight week of no division one winners.

Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said a West Aussie player could be on track to take equal first as the State’s largest division one winner on record.

“WA’s biggest Lotto win to date is an $80 million Powerball prize, which was won by a group of 55 ladies from a gym in Perth’s northern suburbs in December 2021,” she said.

“When jackpots reach these heights, it’s a great opportunity for players to get a syndicate together with family, friends or workmates, to share the cost of a ticket and hopefully the joy of a win.”
