Mick Fanning pockets $16.05m after record-breaking property sale on Gold Coast

Surfing legend Mick Fanning has scored a massive payday after selling his luxury beachfront property on the Gold Coast.
The three-time world surfing champion pocketed a whopping $16.05 million after selling his seven-bathroom, five-bathroom house in Bilinga.
Coolangatta-raised Fanning purchased the 1030 square metre block in 2011 for $3.25 million.

The double block comprises a three-level main residence and a two-level self-contained guest house.
Fanning, who has two young children with his partner Breanna Randall, lived in the house before offering it as a $7,600-a-night high-end holiday rental styled by Sydney-based interior design and renovation company, Three Birds Renovations.

Known as Rolling Seas, the property sleeps up to 12 guests across two villas.
The sale brings Fanning’s property sale earnings close to $20 million over the past six months.
In November, Fanning, 43, sold an investment property in Tugun, Queensland, for $3.3 million.
The luxury three-bedroom, two-bathroom house included a custom-built skate ramp, a pool, an infra-red sauna and a home gym.

The property transaction in Bilinga, near Coolangatta, sets a benchmark for the suburb, which previously held a price record of $14.5 million after a luxury house sale at 196 Pacific Parade in June last year.
Kollosche listing agents Troy Dowker and James Roberts oversaw the $16.05 million sale in Bilinga.
The property was sold in the lead up to Easter prior to the scheduled April 24 auction.
The listing attracted widespread interest across Australia and overseas, with 126 enquiries and 28 private inspections since hitting the market in March.

Despite drawing enquiries from Europe, South Africa, Brazil and the US, the purchaser was a local family.
And there is plenty of space for the family to grow.
The floorplan spans 753 square metres of internal space and 217 square metres of external space.
“There’s only a handful of homes on the southern end of the Gold Coast that are over a double block like this with two homes built on it,” Mr Roberts told View.com.au in March when the property hit the market.

“You could probably count them on one hand, and they don’t transact often, so it is certainly unique.”
Described on the listing as offering “a striking blend of Hamptons charm and rustic Mediterranean retreat”, the house features rough-sawn timber beams, reclaimed French doors, whitewashed floors, and aged English tapware.
The ground level comprises a games room with a wet bar, a fitness retreat, a rear deck with hanging chairs, and a rendered concrete sunken lounge.
An internal lift to the first level reveals the luxury Hampton-style kitchen with a five-burner Lacanche cooktop and oven, a farmhouse sink, an integrated Liebherr fridge-freezer and a butler’s pantry.

Bi-fold windows take in the beach view, and a swimming pool with decorative tiles is built into the oceanfront deck.
Other features inside include a grand dining room, a wine cellar, a media room with a home theatre system and a kids’ retreat.
The second level has four bedrooms, a sitting room, a lounge room and balcony access.
The master suite includes an open ensuite leading to the walk-in robe and dressing room.
A separate self-contained house can be used for guests or short-term accommodation.

There is also a three-car garage with lockable storage and utility rooms, surf craft racks, and secure off-street parking.
Fanning competed in the Icons Heat at the RipCurl Pro Bells Beach event on Good Friday.
