Good design is easy to spot, however it’s not always easy to achieve.

This week it’s all about celebrating the architects creating exceptionally-designed Australian homes. From a modern sanctuary in Avalon Beach to a bungalow renovation in Brunswick West, here are some of the best architecturally-designed homes on the market right now.

Designed by Angus Wirth, ‘Harley House’ is a modern Australian sanctuary that connects light and form with the natural landscape.

The home features five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a contemporary kitchen and free-flowing layout.

“Originally designed for the architect’s parents, this is a family home that has been thoughtfully built for intergenerational living,” said View Living senior reporter January Jones.

“The property allows for everyone to live under the one roof, while still having separate spaces to retreat to.”

Since its restoration, ‘Elm Seed House’ has been the recipient of multiple local and international awards. Located in Brunswick West and designed by Architektura, the 100-year-old bungalow features five bedrooms, two bathrooms, off-street parking, chef’s kitchen and butler’s pantry and landscaped gardens.

“There are so many beautiful features in this home, however one of the most interesting is the sunken lounge room,” said Ms Jones.

“A design popularised in the 1970s, the sunken lounge adds a cosiness and a subtle point of difference to this incredible home.”

Designed by renowned architect Nathan Crump, this pavilion-style property in Cygnet is a perfect blend of Scandinavian, mid-century and Japanese design.

Built circa 1961, and designed by renowned architect Paul Odden, the facade includes a double-height, glazed wall that allows sunlight to filter into the home.
