Born in Germany, Vahland migrated to Bendigo in 1854 and became known as the "premier architect of the Victorian goldfields".

Known as the 'Park View Hotel' the property was named due to its expansive views of Rosalind Park.

Ms Wallace said the property was unique in the area and offered privacy, luxury and exceptional views across Bendigo.

The open-plan living, dining and kitchen leads out onto a light-filled terrace with swimming pool and established trees and plants - an ideal spot for enjoying a morning coffee or entertaining guests.

On the ground floor is the generous garage, as well as a commercial space, perfect for savvy buyers keen to make additional income from the original building.

Due to its origins as a pub, the ground floor would suit another hospitality tenancy or, as the listing states, a "creative studio, or medical suite".

"It is a once-in-a-generation investment opportunity to own a piece of Bendigo's history where you can enjoy modern living at its best."
