An estate fit for James Bond: Canberra's most opulent home hits the market

The scene opens with a long, tree-lined private drive, bordered by the estate's own cabernet vineyard.
It feels like the approach to an exclusive European chateau or the lair of a man with a tuxedo, a mission, and a license to thrill.
At the end of the drive sits the Manor, a 1,750-square-metre property once crowned House of the Year by the Master Builders Association.

Built in 1993, listing agent Joshua Morrissey said it doesn't matter where you are on the property it's all "absolutely stunning."
"You almost feel like you're in another country," he said. "The feeling of being on the property is complete peace, freedom and beauty."
One of the key drawcards of this property is its level of amenities, a factor Mr Morrissey said is "extremely unusual" for the Australian Capital Territory.
"There hasn't been anything with this level of amenity or an estate like this," he said. "There hasn't actually been anything launched to market that's got all of that in one.

"The 1.2 kilometres of private river frontage is also something we've never seen."
When it comes to amenities, it's fair to say that if extravagance were a crime, this place would be a repeat offender.

Offering a whopping seven bedrooms in the main house and a two-bedroom cottage, the grand home features eight bathrooms, six fireplaces, a palatial office with multi-storey windows and a conservatory dining room that seats twenty.
There's also a grand formal lounge offering the kind of luxury that makes "headquarters of a global spy agency" sound entirely reasonable.

And then there's the grounds.
Set on 80 hectares of pristine land, the grounds feature landscaped rose gardens, orchards, water gardens and fish-filled ponds, working stables, a full sports oval, and tennis court.
If it's wellness amenities you're after, there's a resort-style pool, sauna, Japanese steam room, gym and health spa.

Rather indulge in a Vesper martini? Lounge around in your best tux by the European style bar room and 4,000-bottle wine cellar or play a round of billiards in the games room.
And then there's the detail that would make Q himself grin, a private runway and aircraft hangar.

The ultimate getaway for the buyer who lives life at jet-speed.
Owner occupied for over 30 years, Mr Morrissey said the owners have continued to add to the property over the years.

"It was built as an 'everything on the wish list home'", he said. "They've added all the things that they're passionate about and that they love."
Another remarkable feature of the estate is its location. Despite being secluded and tranquil, the home is only a short drive to Canberra's CBD.

"You've got this complete oasis at your disposal, but you're really close to everything," Mr Morrissey said. "You can jump in a car and you're 20 minutes from the city.
"That's one thing that makes it feel special."
Only one question remains:
Are you ready to live like Bond?
