Ahead of his sentencing process beginning later this week, convicted rapist and former Kiama MP Gareth Ward's South Coast home now has an official asking price.

In July, the now former NSW MP was found guilty of four charges of the sexual abuse of two men, aged 18 and 24.

Ward, 44, is currently imprisoned at the Hunter Correctional Centre. His sentencing process is due to begin with submissions on September 19.

Ward's legal battle has reportedly cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars.

In the meantime, he recently listed his Meroo Meadow home, near Nowra, for sale.

There wasn't initially an advertised guide for the property, but it's now listed with an asking price of $1.3 million.

The selling agent, Bianca McMillan from Integrity Real Estate Nowra declined to comment when contacted by the Mercury.

Ward's resignation from parliament triggered a byelection in the state seat of Kiama, which took place last weekend.

Labor claimed victory in the byelection to replace Ward, with candidate Katelin McInerney emerging as the winner.

Built in 2007, according to records, the home is described as being "immaculately presented and thoughtfully designed", and a "true entertainer's delight".

The home is located a short drive to the Princes Highway, and is within access of amenities, transport and shopping.

The four-bedroom home sits on 650 square metres. It features a sizeable study; a large central kitchen with gas cook top, electric oven, island bench with sink and stainless steel appliances; a large living and dining area; a separate family room, offering a place for formal dining, sports or rumpus; and a double lock-up garage with internal access.

Cotality records show Ward bought the home in October 2011 for $450,000. At the time, the home was sold after 26 days on the market.

The now ex-MP faced a nine-week trial, which started in late May. He pleaded not guilty to sexual intercourse without consent and three counts of indecent assault.

On July 25, jurors handed down their unanimous verdict of guilty on all counts after deliberating for three days. The offence of rape carries a maximum penalty of 14 years' imprisonment.

Despite being charged with the offences in 2022, Ward was re-elected to the seat of Kiama in 2023.

Following his conviction, Ward has indicated he will appeal the jury's decision.
