It's not every day you see a Porsche soaring above the sea, but that's exactly what happened on the Gold Coast yesterday, when local developer Frank Developments lifted a race car into the skyline to celebrate its latest luxury project.

In an on-site stunt that stopped beachgoers in their tracks, a Porsche GT3 Cup car, nicknamed Cup Car McQueen for its bold red, Lightning McQueen-inspired livery, was hoisted high above Northcliffe Beach by a construction crane at the MIRA development site.

The eye-catching activation, timed to coincide with this weekend's 2025 GC500, drew cameras, crowds, and plenty of curiosity as the race car hovered against a backdrop of surf, skyscrapers and sunshine.

"We wanted to celebrate the GC500 in a way that reflects the spirit of the Gold Coast, bold, beautiful and full of momentum," said Brett Boulton, the driver of the Cup Car McQueen and one of the weekend's competitors.

Sky-high marketing for a sky-high address

The activation took place at MIRA at Northcliffe Beach, Frank Developments' $115 million boutique project, which is currently under construction on one of the Coast's most prized stretches of sand.

Frank Licastro, director of Frank Developments said of the activation: "MIRA is about elevating beachfront living to the next level, so raising Cup Car McQueen into the skyline felt like the perfect symbol,"

Once complete, MIRA will feature 11 dual-storey beachfront homes and a tri-level crowning penthouse, designed to redefine coastal luxury with private beach access and panoramic ocean views.

So far, eight of the twelve residences have already sold, illustrating demand for ultra-premium beachfront property even amid a tight construction and lending environment.

"The general market might be cooling in places, but projects like MIRA speak to the enduring appeal of location and quality," Licastro said.

"People will always pay for rarity and absolute beachfront on the Gold Coast doesn't get more exclusive than this."

Frank Developments is an official sponsor of Cup Car McQueen for the GC500, alongside Porsche Centre Gold Coast, TAG Heuer, Bold Living, MyConstruct, Michelin and Speedcafe.

"What better way to showcase a car built for the track than by giving it the best view in town," said Boulton.

"We're thrilled to be part of the GC500 excitement," Licastro added. "See you trackside."
