A property nicknamed the ‘INXS House’ has set a new price record for a sought-after South Coast spot.

The home, which has had multiple well-known owners including INXS drummer Jon Farriss, has been exchanged for $5 million, documents now show.

The waterfront lifestyle property at 21 Cyrus Street, Hyams Beach had multiple price guide reductions, after initially being listed with a guide of $8.5 million to $9 million in early 2022.

Farriss bought 21 Cyrus Street for $1.78 million from former Channel 7 executive Bruce McWilliam and sold it for $2.32 million in 2016 to Milena Franovic.

The latest $5 million sales result surpassed the previous sale price record for the suburb of $4.8 million.

However, another home in the area could smash the newly established price benchmark.

Craig McIntosh from The Holidays Collection is the co-selling agent for 78 Cyrus Street, which has a $7 million guide.

The resort-style beachfront home boasts an infinity pool and panoramic views. The fully renovated home, set on 1443 square metres, also offers a wide deck and a swim-up bar in the pool, overlooking Jervis Bay.

Mr McIntosh said the listing was predominantly attracting interest from Sydney-based buyers.

“The market is a little slow in the sense that buyers aren’t in any rush, but there’s a little interest around,” he said.

According to CoreLogic, currently, the median sales price of houses in Hyams Beach is $1.8 million.
