Listing agent James Courtney of McGrath Paradise Point said he had a long-standing relationship with the Cochranes following his own racing days in the V8 Supercars.

It was sold in conjunction with Matt Lanyon of Coastal real estate.

“It had been with other agents and I told him that I could sell it,” Mr Courtney said of the home that was first listed in November 2023.

The property certainly has plenty of selling points.

It sits on a millionaire’s row, McMillan Circuit, with a neighbouring home selling for $24.8 million in 2023.

The $22 million price achieved on the Cochrane home put it in the position of highest sale for 2025.

The nearest rival was an $18.5 million Surfers Paradise house which sold for $18.5 million in early February.

The Cochrane’s home also has plenty of design pedigree with well-known Queensland architect Bayden Goddard designing the home.

The construction took two years, with a team of 14 carpenters working on-site at one time to complete the detailed timberwork.

Spread over four levels, the family home has character and plenty of wow factor as well.

“The central staircase where you can look through to every level is a standout,” said Mr Courtney.

The handsome staircase is flooded with light from 12.8 metre-high arch windows.

On the top level, there is an extensive entertainment area, including a rooftop bar, gym and steam room.

The five-bedroom home is ideal for those who enjoy entertaining with a commercial-grade kitchen adjoining the open-plan living areas.

A cinema and dedicated library offer further down-time options.

Outside there is a saltwater pool, private pontoon and sandy beach.

The sale comes as Mr Courtney moves into real estate after an impressive career in motorsports.

This year will be his last on the Supercar circuit after an impressive career that included taking out the V8 Supercar Championship in 2010.

He said it is the skills that he developed outside of the driving seat in his racing career that are serving him well today in the real estate industry.

“Being a racing car driver, there is a lot of networking and marketing yourself, and all of that is useful where I am today,” he said.
