Now that the split has been widely reported, it will be anyone's guess what happens to their $60 million plus property portfolio.
Here is a look at the couple's enviable collection of real estate.
The Queen of Northumberland

Since 2008, the family has been largely based in Nashville, Tennessee. Around this time, the couple purchased a sprawling mansion affectionately known as 'Queen of Northumberland'.
This has been the couple's primary residence and provides a home base for their daughters who are still in high school.
The celebrity duo paid around $3.47 million (AUD $5.28 million) for the seven-bedroom property which spans more than 1015-square-metres.
The mansion features a swimming pool, tennis court, cinema room and sprawling grounds ideal for hosting and entertaining guests.
Southern Highlands estate

Also in 2008, and around the time Kidman was filming Baz Luhrmann's Australia, the pair purchased a sweeping country escape in the NSW Southern Highlands for $6.5 million.
Located on 45 hectares of land, 'Bunya Hill' is a 1878 Georgian mansion complete with stunning original period details including pressed-metal ceilings, carved cedar staircase and marble fireplaces.
No stranger to famous owners, the property was once home to former NSW governor Lord Augustus Loftus.
Since purchasing the property, the couple have added an 18-metre swimming pool, home gym and tennis court.
And it's not just human residents who call the estate home, alpacas and Black Angus cattle also reside on the property.
Beverly Hills mansion

Over in Beverly Hills, the couple purchased a five-bedroom, five-bathroom mansion for $4.7 million (AUD $7.14 million) in 2008.
Located in a gated community, the property features a master suite that spans an entire floor, a wraparound deck, swimming pool, landscaped backyard and canyon views.
The Mirvac apartments

Still calling Australia home, the couple have purchased several apartments in a building in Sydney's Milsons Point, coming to a total of $27.5 million.
In 2009, they purchased the penthouse for $6 million and are thought to have purchased a further six apartments in the Mirvac building located at 55 Lavender Street.
New York City properties
Showing a love for the Big Apple, Kidman and Urban own two properties in New York City.
In 2010, they purchased a three-bedroom duplex in Chelsea for $9.6 million (AUD $145.3 million), and then in 2020, they snapped up a two-bedroom Tribeca apartment for $3.5 million (AUD $5.3 million).
