A tourist in Thailand, thought to be Australian, has been caught on camera running naked through the street of a packed resort area, screaming at diners and passers-by.

Shocked onlookers filmed the man as he stormed along Patong’s main strip in Phuket on Monday, confronting motorists and holidaymakers while pointing and hurling abuse at them, according to The Daily Mail.

Witnesses claim the man even tried to snatch a police officer’s motorbike and allegedly attempted to strangle him during the bizarre rampage.

Four police officers attempted to arrest the naked man, resulting in one of them being attacked, local media reported.

“Wait, what? He isn’t wearing trousers. What’s going on? Why?,” a Thai woman was heard shouting.

A disturbing image, reportedly showed the naked man trying to get on a police officer’s motorbike, was the final act the man made before he was arrested.

“He approached me when I was in my car. Then, I saw him strangling a policeman, so I parked and came to the officer’s aid,” a Thai motorist told officers.

One disturbing image appeared to show the naked man trying to get on a police officer’s motorbike. It was after this that he was arrested.

Some witnesses said he tried to steal a police officer’s motorbike as he attempted to “strangle” him.

According to local authorities, no fines were issued over the incident, and the man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Several commenters on the now-deleted video blamed the outburst on Thailand’s visa-free entry policy, arguing it has led to a surge of tourists from various countries, including Australia, and a decline in the “quality” of visitors.

“Since the visa-free period, the quality of tourists has declined,” one wrote.

“Phuket has everything — especially low-quality visa-free tourists,” another added.
