Parents are being urged to stop using a children’s car booster seat cushion immediately after it was recalled due to safety concerns.

A recall alert for the Child Car Booster Seat Backless Kids Front Facing, sold by Vntrader Pty Ltd, was issued on Monday by the ACCC’s Product Safety division.

The watchdog said the product fails to comply with mandatory safety standards for child restraints used in motor vehicles, and warned it poses a risk of “serious injury or death if a vehicle abruptly stops or is in an accident”.

According to the product description, the car seat is available in five colours: black, blue, purple, rose red, and red.

“With a high front and low rear ergonomic shape, this portable booster seat reduces forward impact pressure during sudden stops,” the description reads.

“The soft cotton surface, thick foam filling, and durable plastic base offer safety, comfort, and long-lasting use in both car and home settings.

“It also doubles as a dining booster for young children at the table.”

Consumers are advised to stop using the seat immediately and return it for a full refund, including reimbursement of postage.

To complete the return, they should include their order number (if available), name, and address in the parcel, and send it to 6 Chevrolet Rd, Cranbourne East, VIC 3977.

An email containing proof of purchase and the courier receipt must also be sent to help@directonsale.com.au.
