1. I just want to congratulate Jason Dunstall on being elevated to legend status in the Australian Football Hall of Fame.

The honour is well overdue. What a powerful consistent full-forward he was. As a kid I loved following the big key forwards and we had plenty. Lockett, Dunstall, Ablett, Quinlan, Kernahan, Roach, Salmon. What an era it was.

2. Talking of Legends. I had the pleasure of having a coffee with the great Peter McKenna and former pro wrestler Jim Demiris.

It’s hard to believe that other than winning Coleman medals, Peter also had a No.1 hit music single and hosted Hey Hey It’s Saturday. What a legend and an incredibly humble man. He was also a respected TV commentator and English teacher and he kindly gave me some much-needed literacy advice.

3. To borrow a line from Molly Meldrum, do yourself a favour, if you like rock ’n’ roll give Pearl Jam’s new album Dark Matter a listen.

I love it. It’s their best album in years. I can’t wait to see them live again when they visit Australia in November. I was lucky to meet Eddie Vedder last time they toured. They say you shouldn’t meet your heroes as it can be a let-down. Absolute opposite with Eddie. What a gentleman.

4. I’m going to tip Greater Western Sydney midfielder Tom Green for the Brownlow.

He’s an absolute beast. I am still flat he’s not at Tigerland where his grandfather Michael Green was a four-time premiership-winning ruckman.

5. Talking of Brownlow medallists.

There’s a guy that reminded everyone against the Dogs on Saturday night that he is still a force in this competition. His name is Nat Fyfe. With Sean Darcy back in the line-up it’s a nice-looking midfield with Caleb Serong and Andrew Brayshaw.

6. Short and to the point.

As Brad Scott said. The sub is not needed.

7. Thanks Adelaide and LIV Golf for another outstanding event in South Australia.

LIV has its critics but if it was not for this tour we would never get to witness the calibre of golfers that played at The Grange over last weekend in Australia. We haven’t seen crowds like this on Aussie golf courses since Greg Norman was making a Sunday afternoon charge at the Masters at Huntingdale.

8. There is a profile on social media platform X called “Days since Essendon have won a final”.

It gets updated daily. As of today it sits at 7,149. It’s quite funny if you don’t barrack for the Bombers. I’m going to say this page will be obsolete come the first week of the finals this year.

9. The annual draw debate has led to renewed calls for extra-time.

Just a quick reminder that you get two points for a draw. It could well be the difference between playing finals or not. We don’t need extra time. Draws have always been part of our game. End of story.

10. On the home front, here’s a Kevin the cat update.

A few weeks ago I told you that Kev didn’t want to stay inside at night. Meowing all night to go out and waking the house up. Well know the problem is solved. Our floor heating has been turned on as winter gets closer. Cats love a warm spot to lay. The old boy is in heaven.
