‘Wow was that a blast’: Earthquake rocks Kalgoorlie homes
Residents were rattled awake by the early-morning tremor.

An earthquake has hit a historic gold mining town in regional Western Australia on Friday morning.
The 3.5 magnitude tremor hit Kalgoorlie-Boulder about 5.34am, according to Geoscience Australia.
It struck at a depth of 5km, with residents reporting they were rattled awake by the quake.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.The tremor originated on the western fringe of the town, but it was felt in homes across Kalgoorlie, and Geoscience Australia recorded 382 “felt” reports.
Several people said on Facebook that they were woken up from the shaking, and one person said on Facebook that their bed and windows vibrated with the tremor.
It was described as “a big one” and a “big bang” and another person said: The whole house wobbled.”
“Wow was that a blast or earthquake, it shook the house and it was very loud,” one person said.
Another person who felt the 3.4 magnitude blast, also reporting feeling a smaller quake which hit the same area just hours before.
The earlier 2.5 magnitude blast hit the same area about 5.49pm on Thursday.
The smaller tremor about 100m northwest on Thursday night also originated at a depth of 5km, but there were only 118 “felt reports” recorded by Geoscience Australia.
