$1000 instant tax deduction

Albanese has promised a re-elected Labor Government will create a new $1000 instant tax deduction.

Everyone can apply and no paperwork or receipts will be needed to claim the deduction.

“Just check the box and your return is ready to go,” Mr Albanese said.

“It takes away the hassle of tracking your expenses, especially if you work from home.

“And it gives you back more of your own money faster.

“Importantly if you are in a job where you spend more than $1000 each year on the uniforms or equipment, you can still claim a higher deduction in the usual way.

“No-one will be worse off under this reform.”

PM highlights flexible working conditions

Albanese said his Government protected Australians during a “global storm” and refused to sacrifice people’s jobs.

He highlighted the flexibility he has added to working conditions, referencing the right to disconnect law and the ability for employees to work from home.

“We choose the Australian way, helping people under pressure all the while, building for the future. Navigating the rough seas, while always keeping our eyes on the horizon.”

‘Still so much work to do’: Albanese

Anthony Albanese said Labor is seeking a second term because there is “still so much work to do”.

He said despite being in Government for three years, he is still cleaning up the mess left behind by the Liberals.

“Three years later, there is still Liberal mess to clean up. Still challenges to meet. There is still uncertainty that we must confront.

“We are determined to keep helping and keep delivering for people under financial pressure.

“That is why we seek a second term. Not because we think the job is done but because we know, there is still so much work to do.”

Roger Cook speaks about Albo’s love for WA

Premier Roger Cook is speaking now, discussing Albanese’s love for WA.

Cook says Albanese is a “friend of WA” and understands the importance of the State.

“Around three years ago, Anthony Albanese and the Federal Labor team convened here in Perth to launch their campaign,” Mr Cook said.

“To be honest, he has barely been away ever since. He comes back to WA every other week, so it seems.”

“No other minister in recent history invested as much in building their relationship with Western Australia than Albanese it and that is not easy.

“Especially when so much of politics takes place in the eastern states. It is a bit like the NRL, really.

“Anthony Albanese has bucked the trend. He understands the importance of Western Australia. Not just to be Federal election to the prosperity of the nation.”

Hard on crime message a pillar for Dutton

As an ex-police officer it is no surprise that Peter Dutton has highlighted his stance on crime and a hard line for criminals if he is elected.

“I will strengthen our laws and provide more funding for our police and intelligence agencies to stop the crime gangs,” Mr Dutton said.

“My focus and strong leadership will make your neighbourhood safer from crime. We will crush the outlaw motorcycle gangs who are peddling drugs to our children, who are then breaking into your home to feed their habit.”

“My government will work with states and with the territories and we will reduce crime in neighbourhoods, in suburbs, in towns, in cities around this greatcountry.”

‘We could not fix everything’: Deputy PM Richard Marles

Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles has taken to the stage, admitting Labor “could not fix everything in just three years”.

Mr Marles said Albanese has an “ambitious agenda for a second term” because “there is still a lot left to do and to build”.

“Soon friends Anthony will talk to you about all that has been accomplished under the leadership and building on the progress we have made together, his ambitious agenda for a second term,” Mr Marles said.

“Because while there is a lot to be proud of, there is still a lot left to do and to build.

“And there is so much that we must protect. All of that progress is at risk in this election, it could all be lost in less than three weeks.”

Anne Aly opens proceedings at Labor Party campaign launch

Early Education Minister Anne Aly has taken to the stage to open the proceedings at the Labor Party’s official campaign launch.

She says a Labor Government will build a better future for Australia and will build on what the Party has achieved in its first term.

“We all know that when Labor governments are elected, lives are changed for the better,” Ms Aly said.

“Now you know, you know what a Labor Government has achieved in just one term! Now imagine what we can do in the second.”

Coalition says Aussies can access super for home deposit if they take office

Peter Dutton has pledged to make Australians’ superannuation available as a $50k deposit on a first home if they are elected.

“I say to the Australian people today, that the Coalition will allow Australians to access up to $50,000 of their super towards a deposit for their first home,” Mr Dutton said.

“That allows home ownership earlier, and as the asset grows in value, as your home grows in value, so does your ultimate asset position as you get later in life, as you grow older and you can put that money back into super.

“You can end up with a house and a good super balance as well.

“It’s an either/or proposition under the Labor Party. Your super, ultimately, is your money - it’s not the Government’s money and we’ll work with prudential regulators to ease rigid and overly strict lending criteria.”
