Federal election 2025: Almost half of nation headed to polls early to cast their vote ahead of May 3

More than 36 per cent of West Australians have headed to the polls early, with nearly half the country having already voted ahead of Saturday’s close of polls.
Early voters continued to head to pre-poll centres in droves on Friday with any hopes to beat long lines tomorrow were thwarted by thousands of other voters doing the same.
The Osbourne Park pre-poll centre was a buzz on Friday at midday with a rush on voters hoping to get in early.

Nationally, 6.85 million had pre-polled either in person or remotely, with about 1.6 million postal votes.
The figures show more than 8.5 million had headed to the polls early, account for 47 per cent.
Polling stations around the country will be open tomorrow until 6pm, with counting then set to start.
Democracy sausages will reward those who vote on Federal election day, but long queues are expected to await them.
