‘I’m too damn old’: President Joe Biden speaks out at Vice President Kamala Harris Washington campaign event
US President Joe Biden has embraced a new role in the campaign trail, shifting from presidential nominee to a key supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris.
The transition comes as Harris steps into the spotlight, aiming to secure the presidency in the 2024 election after a highly criticised debate performance by Biden that led to a flurry of calls for him to step down.
The event in Washington was the first joint appearance of Biden and Harris since the President announced he would not seek reelection bid

Biden joked about the unusual position he found himself in, having announced he would not seek reelection.
“I served in the Senate for 270 years. I know I only look 40,” Biden said to the laughing crowds.
“For the longest time, I was too damn young.”
“Now I’m too damn old,” he said.
Harris, who is balancing a tightrope of staying loyal to Biden while carving out her own identity, said: “Thank you, Joe.”
“I could speak all afternoon about the person that I am standing on this stage with,”
“There’s a lot of love in this room for our president.”
The event in Washington highlighted key successes of the Biden administration, including savings on prescription drugs achieved through the President’s Inflation Reduction Act.
