Former Young Rich Lister and Bitcoin trader Sergei Sergienko has swung to right-wing politics after meeting Elon Musk’s father Errol Musk in Russia, alongside far-right British activist Tommy Robinson, and actor Steven Seagal.

Sergienko’s rags-to-riches story took him from childhood poverty in Russia’s east to Western Sydney’s migrant barracks as a 14-year-old in 1996. From those beginnings, he built an estimated $97 million fortune as well as a provocative reputation linked to the world of cryptocurrency trading.

The Moscow meeting brought together an eclectic mix of social media operators and former Hollywood star-turned Russian citizen Steven Seagal.

After the June 8 meeting at a Hilton Hotel in Moscow, Sergienko, 44, told The Nightly he didn’t care what other people thought about his political transformation.

“I just think Australia shouldn’t become like Europe (in terms of uncontrolled illegal immigration),” he said. “With a guy like Errol (Musk), you don’t meet him and bring an agenda. I want to be at the cusp of global AI, so it’s the right place to be with him. He’s also one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met and the wealth of his knowledge is what drives me to him.”

Rubbishes Kyle and Jackie O

Sergienko, who met Elon Musk’s father multiple times in 2026, also claimed the 80-year-old disliked controversial radio stars Kyle and Jackie O for showing him insufficient respect during interviews he gave them in the past few years.

In February 2025, Errol Musk went on the now defunct radio show to open up on his family life including sons Elon and Kimbal Musk.

“As far as Kyle and Jackie O is concerned, we saw how it turned out, those two are not together anymore and lost their shitty show,” said Sergienko.

“There’s a thing called respect, and you shouldn’t judge other people if part of your show is to take the piss out of other people. At the end of the day he’s still Errol (Musk), and they don’t have a show now.”

Business network

The volatile Russian now divides his time between Sydney, Dubai, and Russia. Last week, he also attacked the Labor Government’s proposed plans to increase capital gains taxes as bad for small business employers and off-putting for investors.

Nevertheless, he vowed the blockchain-based recruitment platform he founded named, LabourX, will harness AI to connect freelance tech and software workers with more job openings, mainly in the cryptocurrency sector.

Founded in 2016, LabourX is among a number of business ventures Sergienko has launched in a colourful business career underwritten by the growing global mania for cryptocurrencies.

“LabourX is actually morphing into something where AI will create a job for someone and pay the salary in crypto to that person. There are also plans to enable AI to complete physical tasks,” he said.

LabourX currently advertises more than 1000 roles open across cryptocurrency exchanges and start-ups in the tech, AI, Web3, blockchain, or social media sectors.

Feud with Aussie Cossack, Simeon Boikov

Sergienko’s unorthodox approach to business and networking has also led him to cross paths with Russian agent, Simeon Boikov, better known by his self-styled social media persona, Aussie Cossack.

Since 2022, Boikov, a pro-Putin commentator and online propagandist has been hiding in Russia’s Sydney Consulate, after he was charged with assaulting an elderly pro-Ukrainian protester at Sydney’s Town Hall.

Sergienko and Boikov became friends after growing up as Russian emigrants in Western Sydney, but fell out in a feud involving multiple parties jostling over assets.

The Nightly chose not to report details of the dispute.

The anti-Western government rhetoric pushed by Boikov mimics that of Tommy Robinson, another attendee at the June 8 Moscow meeting.

In the UK, far-right activist, Robinson, is blamed by the ruling Labour government for stirring up street protests against illegal migration to Britain on Elon Musk’s social media platform X.

Robinson, who has multiple criminal convictions, has also claimed the West shouldn’t see President Putin’s Russia as an enemy, in remarks widely dismissed as nonsense by the government and political mainstream.

Sergienko said he had nothing against Robinson, although conceded his views will not match his image as a celebrated Young Rich Lister.

“Tommy is a real patriot of the UK,” he claimed, in one of his few comments about the meeting.
